Answer

You really want to try and keep your nitrates close to 0 ppm for best results.  Coral and inverts react negatively to high nitrates which can result in death.  Fish actually can get used to high nitrates but high nitrates can lead to other problems besides death.  Anything under 10 ppm is doing good.
