Although many fish shops recommend the Three Stripe Damselfish as a starter fish, I do not. These fish are very mean and can kill fish much larger then itself. Yes these fish are hard to kill but if you are looking for a starter fish, don't buy this unless you plan on keeping it in your tank. All to often we have customers come in that used this fish as a starter fish and try and add more fish. The fish they added doesn't last more then a few days before the damsel kills it. The Three Stripe Damsel is much better suited in an aggressive tank.
